Brochure Design FAQs

What is a business brochure and what is its purpose?

Business brochures are a printed marketing tool that provide new and long-term clients with easy to read company literature that can be stored and referred back to as needed. Brochures can contain information on a company's products or services and can range in size and complexity from a single sheet folded card brochure to large multi page brochures with internal flaps or fold outs.

Does every business need a brochure?

In many cases a business will benefit from having a tangible, well presented piece of literature that describes their products or services. This can be handed out at sales meetings, posted out to new enquiries and referred back to by the customer as many times as needed.

Businesses that may not need a brochure include business to consumer companies where the price of the product / service  being sold is low. For example a takeaway or taxi firm are not likely to require the formality a brochure provides and will do better investing their marketing budget on leaflets or flyers.

What sizes and styles of brochure can I choose from?

There are an excellent choice of standard brochure sizes and styles available including A4/A5 portrait/landscape, A4 card brochures with flaps for inserting sheets, A4 six-sided folded brochures and contemporary square shaped brochures. Custom brochures with multiple sheets, internal flaps and fold outs can also be designed to your exact requirements.

What printing options and finishes can I choose from?

Brochures can be printed on a variety of paper and card thicknesses (standard packages range from 80gsm – 400gsm) and many come with gloss or silk paper options.

Why use a professional brochure designer?

A professional brochure designer will ensure that the time, effort and investment put into creating a business brochure results in a technically perfect and effective finished article. They will advise on fonts, headings, layout, imagery and the most appropriate size, style and finish to achieve your marketing requirements.

What makes a good brochure?

A good brochure will incorporate the following elements: high quality unique graphic design that is in line with a company's branding, eye catching headings that hold the reader's attention, appropriate and well written copy that is neither too short or too long, good quality imagery, a call to action and contact information.

It will be professionally produced in full colour on thick paper or card.

A good brochure will be appropriate in size and style to the business it is designed for and intuitively laid out to make it easier for customers and clients to read.

What makes a bad brochure?

A bad brochure may be hard to read or produced using poor quality design or print. A bad brochure design is also one that is unsuitable to the industry and ineffective for the business it represents. For example a brochure that contains printed prices would be inadequate for a company who's prices change very regularly. A more useful design would be a brochure containing an internal flap where a price sheet could be inserted.

How much does a business brochure cost?

We offer a range of brochure design packages – please see our business brochure design page for current pricing.

What does a fixed price brochure design package mean?

A fixed price brochure design means that everything that is included in the brochure package spec, is included for one fixed price. This included an agreed number of drafts, full colour printing and UK wide delivery. Unlike with other graphic design agencies who charge by the hour, a fixed price package means that you know the full cost of our printed brochures from the outset.

What is included in a brochure design package?

Please see individual brochure product sheets for full details on what is included. All packages come with UK wide delivery, full colour printing on a range of paper/card thicknesses and smart layouts and striking designs from our professional graphic designers.

All brochures are carefully cut, folded and packaged to ensure that they reach you in tip top condition.

What is not included?

If you require additional drafts/designs to what is included on the product spec then these will incur an additional charge. Also stock photography to use in your design in not included in the base product price.

What if I don't like the end result?

We have refined our step-by-step design process to ensure that you are delighted with the finished item. Your brochure will be developed in stages, incorporating your feedback into each subsequent draft as specified by the product sheets.

How can I get the most value out of my brochures?

Once you have had your brochures designed by Add Design, there are many ways you can distribute them to new and existing customers. For example they can be handed out to new prospects at sales meetings or exhibitions, they can be posted out to enquirers who have phoned or emailed requesting information and they can be posted out to existing clients to stimulate repeat sales.

The important thing to get the best value out of your brochures is to use them at every opportunity.
