Marketing your business with brochures

 

Brochures are used by businesses of all sizes to engage new and existing customers. They are a tangible piece of literature that communicates information on a company’s products or services that can be referred back to as often as required.

 

Whilst this information is now usually published on a firm’s web site, a brochure should be developed in addition to an online presence for a number of reasons. Firstly a brochure is much easier to read than the information contained on a screen, which means that more of the content is absorbed. Secondly a high quality printed brochure communicates qualities about the company such as reliability and stability – as well as building a much better feeling of trust. Thirdly, a brochure can be sent to actively engage a customer and remains a permanent physical reminder and reference for customers of your services. Fourthly, it can be passed around at meetings or shown easily to friends and family. Lastly, printed product images give a much better sense of quality and physicality of what the product is actually like than images on the internet.

 

Information to include on business brochures

 

The information that should be present on a business brochure depends on the type of business it represents. A service-based business will likely detail the main services offered along with an overview about the company and their contact information.

 

A product-based business could include details on all of the products sold, or confine the information to an overview of the brands stocked or general product areas. Again some information about the company itself is usually included to show differentiation and added value as well as a call to action on how customers can buy the products.

 

Pricing information may or may not be included in either case. Constant reprinting can be expensive if pricing constantly changes. One common solution is to print pricing information as an additional insert, which is slotted into the brochure design and can be updated at anytime.

 

Brochure Types

 

There are a wide range of brochure types available – including standard layouts such as A5 portrait or landscape, A4 portrait or landscape, A4 card brochures with flaps for inserts, A4 six sided gate fold brochures and contemporary square brochures. A5 brochures cost less to print and to send out to customers so provide a cost effective option and suited to companies who deal directly with the consumer.
